    Application process opens Jan 1, 2008
    The application process is open to all LGBT students nationwide regardless of level of education.

  • League Foundation at AT&T LGBT Scholarship

    Applications accepted from January through April. Decisions made in July

  • The Queer Foundation Scholarship Fund

  • LGBT Heart Scholarship for Health Professionals

    Available to “out” LGBT students pursuing advanced degrees in the medical profession (Masters level or higher)

  • International Foundation for Gender Education Scholarships

    Deadline: February 1, 2008
    For transgender students who are or will be in the next year enrolled in a post-secondary program that focuses on social services, health care, religious instruction or law.
    Applicants must be living full-time in a gender or sex role that differs from one assigned to them at birth and must be “out and proud” about their transgender identity to their peers and educators.

  • Lee Dubin Scholarship Fund

    Open to high school seniors who are accepted to a Ca college, undergraduate students and graduate students who are enrolled in journalism program Applicants must be planning to pursue a career in journalism and be able to demonstrate their passion and commitment to the profession.

  • Peninsula PFLAG and Peninsula/ South Bay GLSEN Scholarships (San Mateo and Santa Clara Counties)

    High school seniors in good academic standing and whose educational histories, personal plans and activities that demonstrate support for justice and equality for LGBT persons

  • PFLAG Scholarship for LGBT High School Seniors (National)

    Deadline: All completed applications must be postmarked by March 15th
    For graduating seniors entering higher education for the first time in 2008 (if you graduated in 2007 and took a year off you are still eligible to apply). Must self identify as a gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender (GLBT) or an ally. Must demonstrate an interest in service to the GLBT community. Must have applied to an accredited higher education institution.

  • Project 10- Models of Excellence Scholarship

    For graduating seniors in Ca high school and who are accepted to a Ca University
    $500-$1,000 awarded
    Looks for students, gay or straight, who have demonstrated a commitment to the advancement of civil rights in the LGBT community
  • Wiggsy Sivertsen Scholarship (San Jose State University)

    Provides financial assistance to gay and lesbian students or students who have provided service to or who have worked on behalf of gay and lesbian issues.
    You must be enrolled at SJSU and demonstrate financial need
    $750 is generally awarded

  • Colin Higgins Foundation Courage Awards

  • Davis-Putter Scholarship Fund

    Deadline: Postmarked by April 1,
    and will include a short personal statement, transcripts, letters of support from two people able to evaluate the applicant's current political work, an official financial statement (i.e., FAFSA or SAR), and a passport-like photograph suitable for reproduction.
    Applications available in January 2008
    This fund offers need based grants to student activists who are able to do academic work at the college level and are involved in building the movement for social and economic justice

  • Educational Research Center of America (ERCA) Community Contribution Scholarships

    Deadline: TBA, check website in early 2008 for deadline
    To recognize and reward students who have made an extraordinary contribution to their community and/or high school. (In the past, they have awarded scholarships to students who started high school Gay-Straight Alliances.)
    Each year, awards 25-100 Scholarships of $1000 each.

  • Live Out Loud Annual Scholarship

    Deadline: March 31

    Up to $2,500 awarded
    Open to graduating high school seniors and to students who identify as LGB or T and who deferred attending an educational institution for one year following graduation.
    Award selection is based on academic credentials, an essay, leadership and community service involvement, an interview, and two letters of recommendation. Need to show financial need and future goals.

  • eQuality Scholarship (Northern and Central California)

    Deadline for applications, including transcripts and letter of recommendation is February 16, 2008
    This award provides financial assistance to graduating high school seniors from northern and central California who have promoted understanding of and equality for the lesbian/gay/bisexual/transgender community.
    The scholarship amount is typically $1,500.
