Common Interest Groups

Coming Out Support Group [email]
A peer lead support group assisting individuals who are questioning or new to dealing with the aspect of being gay, lesbian, or bisexual. Meets every Wednesday from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Center. Call the DeFrank Center for more information (408) 293-2429.

DeFrank LGBT Families [group]
Are you raising a child? Want to meet others in the LGBT community who are also facing the family challenge? DeFrank Family is an informal email list and social group for LGBT Fathers and Mothers with younger children.

DeFrank Social Committee [email]
A social/activity planning committee to create social events for our community. We would like a committee that reflects the range of interests, ages, races, genders, geography and orientations in our community. Meetings are on the 2nd Thursdays evenings for a 90 minute meeting starting at 6 p.m. Call the DeFrank Center for more information (408) 293-2429.

Discussion: Gay Spiritual Leaders [email]
May 18th 7:00p.m. -8:30p.m.
Tapping Into LGBT Spirituality series: This monthly group seeks to facilitate empowerment of spiritual growth, awareness and healing associated with our LGBT spiritual nature. In fostering a sense of connectedness to our core being, this group will explore an area where there has been wounding for the LGBT community and help people differentiate between religion and spirituality which is often intertwined.

TwentySomethings Coffee [email] [group]
7:30pm-10:00pm pm 2nd and 4th Wednesdays.
Sit, schmooze, and be amused! 20somethings Coffee is a social group where LGBTQ young adults can meet on a more casual basis. Currently we are meeting at Crema (right next-door to the DeFrank Center).

Vintage Luncheon [email]
Meets every Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. at the DeFrank Center. Lunch is free for mature adults 50+. There is also a speaker that follows, topics are relevant to the Senior population. Call the DeFrank Center for more information (408) 293-2429.

The first Thursday of every month from 7 p.m.-9 p.m. This is an opportunity for members of the Leather community and other interested people to gather in a safe and welcoming atmosphere.

Meets on the 1st, 3rd and 5th Mondays of every month at 6:30 p.m. It's a DeFrank Center-sponsored social and support group for Latinos and friends. Call (408) 271-6984 for info.

Sisterspirit Bookstore [web]
(Located inside the DeFrank Center)
Features evenings of entertainment by and for women. Run by volunteers, the bookstore is located in the Center. Come see the wide range of books and Pride and Rainbow products. Call (408) 293-9372.

South Bay Queer & Asian [web] [email] [group]
SBQA is a support and social group which provides South Bay Gay Asian and Pacific Islanders with a safe place to come out and be comfortable with their sexual identity and race. Our bi-monthly meetings serve as a forum where individuals can freely discuss issues relevant to being Gay and Asian in a relaxed and friendly environment. Meetings are on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month from 7:00 p.m-8:30 p.m. at the DeFrank Center.
